Rain and More Rain – Flooding creek and growing grass! Pretty well sums up February.
We also purchased another 30sqm of couch turf to put around the 9th green so as to minimise the impact of rain washing away sand from the existing turf.
The course is looking a picture even though a lot effort is reuired keeping the grass under control.
Not much happening competition wise at the course. Ladies and Vets comps in recess until new year. Sunday comp and Friday chook run (tee-off 4.30/5.00) still running.
Also plenty of mowing (with new mower) and top dressing of new turf surrounding selected greens.
To all members and visitors have a happy xmas and prosperous new year.

The 2021 season will “officially” conclude with “Closing Day” on Sunday 5th December, with a “2 Ball Ambrose” starting 8.30/9.00 followed by the club presentations from around 2pm and lunch.
The usual comps will continue throughout the summer, with the 2022 season beginning early March as per the soon to be published 2022 calendar.

The cost of Memberships for the remainder of the year (until 30 March) is currently reduced to $50.00/adult and will be reduced as the year progresses, so a GREAT TIME TO BECOME A MEMBER – fill in a membership form – and email it to admin@jinderagolfclub.com We can help you get a handicap (if you want) and join in our very social competition days – or simply play at your leisure without having to worry about green fees!
Pennant – The Mighty Jindera Golf Club took out the 2021 MDGA Pennant competition last Sunday the 21st Nov at Thurgoona. It was a hard fought affair against a very competitive Culcairn side where all games bar one went to the 17th and 18th holes before being decided.
Thanks go out to Steve Keshire and the MDGA (Murray Districts Golf Association) team for organising another great Pennant competition.
The competing clubs were :- Jindera (A/B), Culcairn (A/B), Holbrook, Howlong (A/B), Thurgoona (A/B) Corowa (A/B), Albury and MDGA All Stars.
Course Works – The grounds committee have been working hard over the past few weeks installing some “Couch” turf around some of the greens in a bid to encourage it to spread out to the fairways thereby improving the approach to the greens. Currently targeted are the 1st, 6th, 8th and 9th greens. We ask all players to treat the new work as “GUR” and please take care, as this is the start of on-going works in this area.
Working bee to install “couch” around the 1st,6th,8th and 9th greensWinners are Grinners – Jindera 2021 Pennant winners Left to Right – Ash Paech, Craig McMillan, Aaron Melbourne, Trevor Freeman, Greg Allen (Capt) (Graham Moore and Bob Sheerans unavailable).
The end of the competition season is almost upon us, with the tournament being held on the 26th September and now mostly club comps running apart from the MDGA Pennant. The MDGA (Murray Districts Golf Association) Pennant is currently underway and will run until the 21st November when the “Final” will be played between the top two teams from “Pool A” and “Pool B”.
The Jindera teams are doing very well so far – after 3 rounds “Pool A” have won 3 out 3 and “Pool B” 2 out of 3 – Go The Dogs !
Round 3 of the Pennant was held at Jindera on the 24th Oct, with around 60 players competing. It was a great day, with the course looking a treat.
Friday – Chook Run – 9 Holes, Open to all, Tee-Off Currently 3.30, will become 4.30/5.00 with daylight savings. Can also be played throughout the week – Play your game, place cards – signed and verified by partner – with $5.00 in an envelope and slide under the door.
FINALLY, the new fairway mower has arrived and been given a workout by chief pilot David Briggs. Our apologies for the inconsistency of the fairways over the past few months, however things will be back to normal very soon – hopefully!

Junior Golf
The final clinic will be on Sunday 31st October with a shortened game and modified rules.
Thanks to Cameron Odewahn for the time he has put into the kids in somewhat difficult circumstances with the dreaded COVID situation.
September has seen a number of COVID related interruptions to our golf program, including challenges to course maintenance and our Tournament, which is FINALLY on Sunday the 26th September.
Junior Golf kicked-off on Sunday 8th August at 10.00am with around 12 kids learning the basics of golf under the expert tutelage of Cameron Odewahn. The following Sunday however was cancelled due to the new Covid restrictions brought in by the NSW government on Saturday 14th Aug. This was unfortunate as we had around 22 kids registered with a lot interest being shown by the community. The program will continue when Covid rules allow.
Jindera Golf and COVID –
Given the new covid restrictions applicable to regional NSW, The advice from Golf NSW – see below – is that usual club golf may continue provided that –
Groups are a maximum of two players (unless they are from the same household)
Usual Covid restrictions are observed (5km travel limit, social distancing, Masks, Covid check-in etc)
Consequently, our usual comps. will still be on as per the following advice from golf nsw, bearing in mind that the groups must only be in pairs and that all players wear masks where required.

Other than in the areas of concern, people will only be able to leave home for one of the following four reasons:
Shopping for food or other essential goods and services
Medical care or compassionate needs
Exercise outdoors in groups of a maximum of two (unless players are from the same household) within your own Local Government Area (LGA) OR if outside your LGA it must be within 10km of where you live (5kms from Monday 16 August))
Essential work, or education, where you cannot work or study from home
July has seen some very challenging weather for both playing golf and also for the grounds committee in trying to maintain the course.
Our annual tournament slated for the weekend of 24/25 July has been a casualty of the continued run of bad weather, exacerbated by Covid lockdown restrictions on victorian golfers.
The tournament has now been moved to the weekend of 25/26th September where we hope that the weather and Covid restrictions will align for a successful day.
We will be running a junior golf clinic on Sundays beginning on the 8th August and finishing with a mini tournament on the 26th September. The clinics will run for around one hour and start either before or after the usual Sunday competition.
The age group is 6 to 14, there is no cost and membership of the golf club is not required.
